SINOPSIS (cast.)
Rodada en Etiopía y en Alemania, Teza estudia los desplazamientos de intelectuales africanos, tanto dentro de su continente como a otros, desde los años setenta hasta nuestros días, a través de la historia de Anberber, un médico joven e idealista. La película cuenta su lucha interior para seguir siendo leal a su país y a sí mismo. A la edad de sesenta años, regresa por fin al pueblo donde nació. A pesar de alegrarse de volver a ver a su anciana madre, su larga ausencia hace que se sienta alejado de los suyos. Le invade la decepción y le persigue el pasado.

Tourné en Ethiopie et en Allemagne, Teza décrit les migrations des intellectuels africains, chez eux ou à l’étranger, à travers l’histoire, depuis les années 1970 jusqu’à aujourd’hui, d’un médecin éthiopien jeune et idéaliste, Anberber. Le film raconte ses luttes intérieures pour rester loyal envers lui-même et son pays d’origine. Alors qu’il est âgé de 60 ans, Anberber retourne enfin dans son village. Bien qu’il soit choyé par sa vieille mère, il se sent décalé par rapport à ses proches en raison de sa longue absence. Il a perdu ses illusions et est hanté par son passé.
SYNOPSIS (ing.)
Set in Ethiopia and Germany, Teza examines the displacement of African intellectuals, both at home and abroad, through the story of a young, idealistic Ethiopian doctor, Anberber, from the 70s until nowadays. The film chronicles his internal struggle to stay true, both to himself and to his homeland. Now, at the age of 60, Anberber finally returns to his home village. Although he finds comfort with his ageing mother, he feels alienated by those around him after such a long absence. He is disillusioned and haunted by his past.
