SINOPSIS La isla Rodrigues, perdida en medio del océano Índico, tiene una peculiaridad: hay más de 500 acordeones para 35.000 habitantes. Las polkas, mazurcas y valses son parte de la historia y del mestizaje de una isla durante mucho tiempo olvidada por todos. Aquí, el acordeón no es un instrumento pasado de moda, al contrario; se mezcla con el sonido de la percusión africana para que bailen jóvenes y viejos. Con la ayuda de Philippe Imbert, un artesano francés, la Asociación de Acordeonistas de Rodrigues se ha lanzado a una nueva aventura: fabricar su propio acordeón. El primero, el prototipo, construido íntegramente en la isla, se llama Bella.

SYNOPSIS Perdu au milieu de l’Océan Indien, Rodrigues, a une particularité : il y a sur l’île plus de 500 accordéons pour 35,000 habitants. Polkas, mazurkas et valses, attestent de l’histoire du peuplement et du métissage de cette île longtemps isolée de tout. Ici l’accordéon, loin d’être comme ailleurs un instrument désuet, se mélange aux sons des tambours africains pour faire danser jeunes et vieux. Avec l’aide de Philippe Imbert, artisan français, l’association d’accordéonistes rodriguais s’est lancée dans une belle aventure : construire leur propre accordéon. Un premier prototype a été complètement fabriqué sur place, il a été baptisé Bella.

SYNOPSIS Rodrigues Island, lost in the middle of the Indian Ocean, has something particular: There are more than 500 accordions for 35,000 people. Polkas, mazurkas and waltzes are part of the history and mestization of an island forgotten by all for a very long time. Here, the accordion is not a forgotten instrument, quite the contrary; its sound mixes with African drums so that young and old can dance. With Philippe Imbert’s help, a French craftsman, the Rodrigues Accordion Association has set out on a new adventure: Making their own accordion. The first one, the prototype, completely made on the island, is called Bella.
